Join the AIM team
AIM is open to Purdue students of any major and experience level. By helping any student interested in music technology and machine learning, we encourage broader adoption of these tools — and broaden who gets to build them.
Who we look for
Interested students
We try to admit as many students as we have capacity for. The one requirement: fluency in Python and NumPy, or the ability to pick them up within a week or two of joining. Almost every other skill — DSP, ML, computer vision, audio engineering, design — is learned on the team.
Projects + thesis capability
Most AIM students choose one of our current projects. If you have an idea for a scope extension, or want to base a thesis or paper on a project, reach out to the contacts below.

What to send us
Graduate students
Email Prof. Lu indicating you are a graduate student. Funding may be available depending on your level of commitment to the project — keep your CV up to date.
Undergraduate students
Undergraduates join the VIP team for their first semester in AIM. Email Tim Nadolsky and a CRN will be provided as needed. Funding may be available for SURF or similar positions.
